Indigenous cultural and intellectual property

Records, stories, songs, languages, genealogies, images and cultural knowledge in the National Library of Papua remain the Indigenous cultural and intellectual property of the peoples, clans and families who hold them. The Institute keeps them in trust and does not claim to own them.

You may not copy, publish, record, sell or adapt cultural knowledge from this site without the permission of its custodians, given through the Institute. This applies even where the law of copyright would otherwise allow it.

Asking permission

To reuse anything from this site beyond a short quotation with credit, write to info@natakaresearchinstitute.org and tell us what you would like to use and how. Requests for cultural material are passed to its custodians and the Council of Guardians.
